"Wheel of the year" illustration

The Wheel of the Year is the name for the annual cycle of seasons in Wicca. It has thirteen moons and eight festivals, called sabbaths.

Major Sabbats are ancient Celtic festivals that celebrated important milestones in the year: Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh.

The minor Sabbats correspond to the solstices and equinoxes (solstices): Yule, Ostara, Litha and Mabon.
